The City of Springfield has announced a new program offering business grants aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs. The initiative, which will launch next month, seeks to bolster small businesses recovering from recent economic challenges.
These grants will provide up to $10,000 to eligible businesses within the city limits. The funds are designed to assist with operational costs, equipment purchases, and other expenses essential for business growth and sustainability.
The Springfield Economic Development Agency will administer the grant program. Officials stress the importance of supporting local businesses as a means to stimulate economic activity and job creation within the community.
This initiative follows previous efforts to support small businesses during the pandemic, which included low-interest loans and technical assistance. Local leaders emphasize that fostering a vibrant business ecosystem is crucial for the city’s economic health.
Interested business owners can apply for the grants starting January 15, 2026. Applications will be available on the City’s official website. A workshop will also be held on January 10 to guide applicants through the process.
