Orlando University has announced a new sustainability initiative aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and promoting eco-friendly practices throughout the campus. This program will officially launch on January 10, 2026, during a special ceremony at the university’s main auditorium.
The initiative seeks to enhance recycling efforts, carry out energy-efficient systems, and encourage students and staff to participate in sustainability education programs. Key components will include workshops and a campus-wide challenge to reduce waste.
University officials and local environmental organizations will collaborate on this project, which is expected to position Orlando University as a leader in sustainable practices within the region. Both students and faculty will be involved in various aspects of the program.
This initiative builds on previous efforts made by the university in 2022, where it achieved a significant reduction in energy usage through innovative campus design. The recent surge in interest in sustainability at universities underscores its importance to current and prospective students.
Community members and students are encouraged to attend the launch event and learn more about how they can get involved. For additional information and to RSVP for the event, please visit the university’s official website.
